The purpose of a pitch letter, or a.k.a. media advisory, is to obtain coverage of an event in the print and/or broadcast media. You are, in a sense, inviting them to your ribbon cutting ceremony, speech, open house/ special event, etc. but the key is writing a pitch letter that stands out from the hundreds of pitch letters received each day by editors and producers. You want the letter to captivate their attention by communicating the significance of the event.

You invite all your city contacts including the Mayor, council members etc. You have us write and send a pitch letter to the various media outlets in the area. The day of the event all your V.I.Ps are there including the media to cover the event.
